How to brief an AI like your best teammate

The context, constraints and examples that turn a vague ask into work you can ship.

Most disappointing AI output starts with a thin brief. You wouldn’t hand a new teammate one line and expect perfect work, and the same is true for Auno.

Start with the outcome

Before you describe the task, describe what done looks like. “A one-page launch brief the sales team can read in two minutes” beats “write a launch brief” every time.

Give it the constraints

  • Audience. Who will read it, and what do they already know?

  • Format. Length, structure and where it will live.

  • Boundaries. What to avoid, what not to promise, who to check with.

Show, don’t just tell

Point Auno to a past doc you liked. One good example teaches tone, structure and detail faster than any list of rules.

“A great brief isn’t longer. It’s clearer about what matters.”
Marcus Bryan, Head of AI

Once Auno has done a task well, it remembers the context. Your second brief can be a single line.
